"The longest journey starts with a first step." Today is and you could take your first step now, by enjoying your FREE TRIAL CLASS at our Institute.

Grandmaster Dan-Horia Chinda trained and taught Martial Arts since 1960's thruout the world before coming to the United States in 1990. In 1991 opened the American branch of the Chinda Institute International for Mind-Body Development (CII). He pioneered Karate-Do, Ju-Jutsu, Aikido and Tai-Chi Chuan in Romania since 1970, continuing the legacy left by his father, a Jiu-Jitsu expert. Through this heritage, Master Chinda, very humble in his Zen ways, has the capacity to bridge the east and the west.
This capacity is one of the greatest assets brought to us by our Master. His ability to explain deeply philosophical elements of far eastern content in a western understandable way is very important in the development of our students.

Shihan Chinda's credentials are:
7 Dan Shotokan Karate-Do, 7 Dan Ju-Jutsu, 4 Dan Kendo, 2 Dan Aikido, 1 Dan Judo, 1 Dan Wado-Ryu, Chi Kung and Tai-Chi Chuan Sifu. He was fortunate to learn from great Masters, such as: R. Haberzetser, I. Jorga, H. Miura, A. Basile, H. Ochi and W. Lind (Budo Studien Kreiss). A long time friend, Master Lind helped Master Chinda gain a new perception of Karate Do. Master Chinda introduced the basics in Chi Kung and Tai Chi Chuan at Budo Studien Kreiss, guiding Monica and Gabi Lind in their early explorations. Today they are both leading Sifu in Germany. Master Chinda is a Certified Master by Budo Studien Kreiss. See http://www.budostudienkreis.de/intro/infos-bsk/lehrer-des-bsk-ubersicht/ and the CII part of the BSK Dojos. See http://www.budostudienkreis.de/intro/infos-bsk/bsk-schulen/
A detailed Budo CV you can see here.

Shihan Chinda's journey in Ju-Jutsu started, as previously mentioned, with his father Eugen, by studying Goshin Ryu Jiu-Jitsu. His studies were furthered with such world renown Masters as P. Nehls and F. Piaskovy which guided him through Kosogabe Ryu and Tenjin Shinjo Ryu Ju Jutsu. Kashiwaya Sensei offered the nobility of Kendo and the depth and harmony of Chi Kung and Tai-Chi Chuan were illuminated by Grand Masters M.S. Yang and Y.S. Chei.

Shihan Chinda has been featured in various newspapers, radio talk shows, and television programs. He has published the following books: "Tai-Chi Chuan: The Way to Meditation in Movement"; "Do-In: The Ancient Chinese Self-Massage"; "Pa Tuan Chin: The Chinese Health Method". In addition, he has produced the following videos: "Twenty-six Shotokan Karate-Do Katas"; "Tai-Chi Chuan and Pa Tuan Chin"; "Pa Tuan Chin, For Health and Beauty"; and "Tai-Chi Chuan, A Way to Personal Power". Six new volumes of videos were produced in 1994 in the United States:"Wai Dan Chi Kung"; "Tai Chi Chuan Short Form"; "Tai Chi Chuan Long Form"; "Pushing Hands"; "Tai Chi Broad Sword"; and "26 Shotokan Karate Katas". The videos are available HERE through our website.

Shihan Chinda is involved in practicing Zen and Art, as well as Do-In, Shiatsu, and lately Feng-Shui.  He enjoys creating Bonsai, having many of his artworks living in private collections and nurseries in Pittsburgh, Fort Lauderdale, Miami (USA), San Miguel de Allende and Monterey (Mexico). His journey continues exploring the relation between the bonsais and their containers creating his own pots in his ceramic studio. There are classes for bonsai and pottery only by appointment, offered to the CII students in the Zen and Art classes. Email at master@chindadojo.org or call 0751-060697. Master Chinda's knowledge of Bonsai and pottery is offered to the CII students in the Zen and Art classes. You can see more about Master's Bonsai art at https://sites.google.com/site/danhoriabonsai/powerpoint and http://vimeo.com/8897837

While in Germany, he had the chance to discover the beauty of Ikebana through the world-renowned Master, Ms. Marianne Sikora, establishing a long lasting friendship based on love for nature. Arriving in the USA, he continued the instructions in Ikebana from Sensei Reiko Nakajima, the founder of Ikebana classes at CII.

Master Chinda has a Doctorate degree in Architecture and Environmental Design and in the past has produced award-winning designs for companies in Germany and the United States. He retired after teaching in USA for year as an University Professor.
